Look around at your local cafe during the week and you’ll see prams all lined up. From afar, they all look pretty similar – a sea of black, grey and navy.

Don’t get us wrong, we’re a fan of minimalism and nothing beats a classic! But sometimes it’s fun to express yourself through colour and prints.

Our Milo Colour Packs allow you to dress up your pram to emulate your personal style. It’s a fun way to make your pram a totally unique expression of who you are.

New patterns and prints are released twice a year. This time, we wanted to bring you something extra special. We teamed up with a talented local artist so that you can dress your pram in artwork!

Suzanne Leahy, or Suzie, is an artist, loving mum and devoted primary school teacher. She lives in Melbourne’s north with her partner Alex and their two children Sienna (4) and Ollie (1).

Suzie has been playing with paints ever since she can remember. She fondly recalls paints being top of her Santa list as a kid.

These days her studio has become a glitter dreamland. She shares the space with her daughter who seems to have inherited her mum's creative knack, creating cardboard castles, unicorns or painting large format pieces, just like her mum.

My work tends to be playful, vibrant and rich in pattern. I love working with layers. I’m heavily inspired by nature (I adore flowers). But I also find fabrics, interior spaces, or even everyday objects and experiences can inspire a colour palette.

My process is playful, messy, intuitive and fun.

I often don't know exactly how a painting will unfold. There’s nearly always a moment of 'it's just not working' before I feel it all comes together.

I love experimenting with colour palettes and exploring different tools (or everyday items) for creating texture. I mainly use acrylic paints as they allow me to work quickly.

Painting is definitely an outlet for me and, despite my studio appearing chaotic, it’s a very calming space for me.

Creating digital art that I can do on the go has been great for playing around with lots of ideas. I now have quite an extensive journal of ideas and designs that I also draw on for inspiration.

The Rocky Road print was inspired by some local rockpools I visit with my family. The small imperfectly hand-drawn pebble shapes show snippets of the different patterns, layers and markings seen in the rocks and cliff faces.

The Cheeky Check print is inspired by a fabric I saw on a child's patchwork dress. The end piece looks quite different to the fabric. I just love how something little like that can prompt an idea that then develops intuitively as I go.

I think it helps to become comfortable with and embrace the mess!

It’s quite amazing to see what children create with the opportunity to play and explore with materials. Also remember being creative doesn’t always require art or special materials. My children love creating collages outside with items from the garden. Or a lot of fun can be had on some pavers with just water and a paintbrush. There are also lots of great creative kids workshops around too!
